Is Your Business Ready for AI Search?
A quick self-audit for AI search readiness — common gaps, a checklist, and the next step to get cited by Copilot and Bing Chat.
If your buyers use Microsoft Copilot, Bing Chat, ChatGPT search, or Perplexity to research vendors — and they increasingly do — you need to know whether your business is set up to appear in those answers. Here’s a fast self-audit, drawn from the readiness check our GEO / AI Search Optimization service runs.
The six-item AI search readiness checklist
Score yourself honestly. One point per yes.
- Bing indexing. Your priority pages appear when you search
site:yourdomain.comon Bing. - IndexNow implementation. Your site pings IndexNow when content updates, and Bing indexes changes in minutes.
- FAQ / QAPage schema. Every Q&A section on your site has valid schema.
- Question-based content structure. Your priority pages use questions as H2 headings with direct-answer paragraphs following.
- Complete Organization schema on About page including sameAs links to LinkedIn and other verified profiles.
- Cited at least once by Bing Chat or Copilot on one of your target queries.
Score 5-6: You’re AI-search ready. Focus on citation coverage growth and monitoring.
Score 3-4: Foundational work needed. Prioritise the gaps.
Score 0-2: Full GEO engagement recommended. You’re missing the basics.
The most common gaps
Across the Malaysian businesses we audit, the recurring gaps are:
- Content structure. Long paragraphs, no clear question-answer format. AI can’t cleanly extract.
- Missing FAQ schema. Q&A sections exist but aren’t marked up.
- Weak Organization schema. No sameAs links, incomplete NAP, no author bylines on articles.
- Bing indexing debt. Priority pages not indexed or slow to update.
- No citation monitoring. Businesses don’t know whether they’re cited, so they can’t measure GEO ROI.

Below three yes answers means it’s time to get serious about GEO. Our guide to GEO vs traditional SEO in 2026 explains where the investment pays off.
Where to start
If you’re audit-ready but not sure what to prioritise, start with:
- Add FAQ schema to your top 5 service pages (2-4 hours)
- Restructure the H2 headings on those pages to be questions (1-2 hours per page)
- Add sameAs links and complete Organization schema on the About page (30 minutes)
Those three changes can move citation odds meaningfully within 60-90 days.
